Fernando González Llort

I thought that the District would come to this Court to ask a one year probatory sentence, after all, that was what this same district offered to mr. Frometa when he bought to an under cover agent of the government one "Stinger" missile with C'4 explosives, grenades and other weapons. It does not matter what Mr.Frometa would have confesses to that proper under cover agent and his terrorist intentions and the killing use  that unscrupulous murderer would do with such materials…" 

That is how Fernado expressed about his plea, one of the five Cubans jailed in USA for struggling against terrorism, before the judge who incredibly condemned him to 19 years of confinement, so the trial came to be a tricky one. 

Fernando González Llort, was born in Havana , on August 18 , 1963. He traveled to USA in a risky mission in order to defend Cuba from terrorist attacks and plans thought at Miami, with the tolerance of North American authorities. He was not looking for classified information of that country, nor attempted against its security or any of its citizens. However he was after discovering criminal actions coming from the extreme right of the Cuban exile, mainly from the Mafia organizations such as the National Cuban American Foundation. (FNCA).

In order to protect Cubans, also North Americans which could be seen in danger for such actions of these fan groups establishes at Florida, Fernado of a working class origin, has suffered the cruelty of his jail men  who had sent him to punishing cells during months, aiming to bend his will.

I never have the slightest doubt of the unconditional support of the Revolution and its leadership, Fernando expressed in a letter sent to his wife, Rosa Aurora Freijanes and he continued saying that together with him there were his comrades jailed too, they were going to keep themselves faithful to the fair cause they had defended.

But according to his own letters, Fernando never imagined this support would show in such a massive way and that the whole Cuban people would be united in the battle for their return.

Graduated from the Foreign Affairs Institute, with a gold diploma, Fernando is characterized for his modesty and responsibility, he loves Silvio Rodríguez´s music, national folklore and salsa music.

We have lived very exciting moments listening to the Round Tables and Tribunes, the people´s parades, demanding our freedom and to our relatives who trust on us and Fidel has states we are a giant quintet….We assume this very proud and with the compromise of continuing faithful to the ideas of the people and to the Revolution, no matter circumstances may be and time we have to stay in jail..

Although there are difficult conditions - he has commented- I did not think I was doing anything heroic, that was what I had to do, there is no other option…I am certain , that millions of Cubans , in the same circumstances, would have done the same that us…

Fernando was accused of conspiracy , false documents and acting as a foreign agent, without telling it to the District , in a trial in which the hostile and aggressive policy towards the Revolution.

Fernado´s mother , Magali Llort, a loving mother recall every moment of the more than two years and a half she had no news from her son and the warm he received from her comrades in the struggle for the freedom of her son together with the rest.

"I am very identified with my son´s struggle against terrorism , also with the rest of his mates, because this battle is not only for them , but for Cuba" Magaly said who had already warned: Miami makes me distrust a lot about the trial"…talking about the hostile environment of that locality, where the Court was on session, in spite of the defense lawyers request of celebrating the trial outside Miami, with this Ammendment VI of the Constitution of the USA, was violated.

For Rosa Aurora, Fernando's wife, USA has not applied its true justice in the case, in a clear reference to the strong hostility of the Florida press at the Cuban American mafia service , which exerted pressures over the jury members and witnesses at the oral hearings in the Court .

It is very difficult to gain impartiality in that environment, with constant propaganda against Cuba and they try to manipulate and hide realities, he added.

Fernando himself, illustrated manipulations of the media: Those who believe the Cuban radio from Miami and the extremist Cuban wings in that locality represent the way the majority of the people think, they are wrong, the extreme minority is very powerful from the economy point of view and present a representing image of unity of the feelings of hundreds of Cubans who live here, but that is not the truth.."

According Rosa Aurora, among the most outstanding qualities of her husband, there is loyalty to his homeland , principles and dignity , "They avoided us to run risks, they saved the Cuban children."

Fernando who had resisted all reprisals and bad treatments at North American jails -with which Ammendment VIII of the Constitution has been violated, in his plea before the Court, he stated:

Last September 11, we all witnessed of a criminal act which astonished the majority of the population of the planet, it was widely known by TV and radio.

Terrorist acts occurring during years against Cuba have not been broadcast by any chain.

Allow me to recall one criminal act of September 11 but of the year 1980, Felix García, a Cuban diplomat, accredited before United Nations was murdered at the New York city by one of the terrorist that today is confined at Panama together to Posada Carriles.

The reality is that Cuba has no other choice that to have people here for love to its homeland and not for money to be kept well informed of terrorist plans allowing to avoid them every time is possible. This is the reason of my presence here.

Meanwhile situation keeps on going like this, Cuba has the moral right of defending the way my mates and I have done.
