Sources of
the Cuban Cycling Federation told ACN that the teams confirmed so
far include Global Cycling (Holland), Saxonia (Germany) and
Planet-Energy (Canada). There will also be a squad from Italy,
another from the United Arab Emirates and two from Venezuela.
Cuba will participate with two national teams, two from the national
technical centers and more than 10 representing the country’s
provinces.
The event will kick off on February 9 from the easternmost city of
Baracoa, in Guantanamo province.
The 2009 event was dominated by Cuban Arnold Alcolea with Canadian
Francois Parisien and Venezuelan Manuel ‘El Gato’ Medina placing
second and third, respectively.
