Cuban President and Malaysias Prime Minister Hold Talks
Havana, Nov 24 (AIN) Cuban President Fidel Castro and Malaysias Prime Minister Dato
Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi held talks on Wednesday at Havanas Revolution Palace.
In their talks, both leaders addressed bilateral relations between Cuba and Malaysia and
exchanged views on the world situation. Also present at the
meeting were visiting Malaysian ministers of industries agriculture and raw materials
Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui, of education Dato Shafie Mohd Salled, as well as the Malaysian
Foreign Minister Dato Joseph. The Cuban delegation at the talks included Vice-President
Carlos Lage, Health Minister Jose Ramon Balaguer and Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque.
Prior to the talks, Fidel Castro and Ahmad Badawi were taken an official photo as a memory
of their meeting, which proves the excellent bilateral relations between
both nations.
The Malaysian Prime Minister was welcomed Wednesday at Havanas Jose Martí
International Airport by the First Vice President of the Cuban Councils of State and
Ministers Raul Castro.
Ahmad Badawi previously visited Chile where he participated at the 12th Summit of the
Asia-Pacific Economic Council (APEC). Ahmad Badawi first traveled to
Cuba in 1998 when he was Malaysias Foreign Minster.
With a population of more than 25 million people, Malaysia currently chairs the
Non-Aligned Movement, a responsibility to be assumed by Cuba in 2006 during the
next summit of that organization. /2004
